I don't suppose there has ever been such time. Whereas now, almost everybody can afford to buy something from China. And yes, majority of people used to use and own less things. They had one dress and one pair of shoes, and yes, those were of better quality in general. But the time has become so condensed and everything changes and ages so fast, that those cheap, almost "disposable" products from China is the only solution - for many because they are weak and do not have the intelligence not to follow the crowds, but for others - because that is truly the only thing they are able to afford. Even for Christmas.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8475472223815823839.post-75376345648556848722011-12-28T08:39:06.558-08:002011-12-28T08:39:06.558-08:00Enjoyed reading this post Amanda as someone who fo...Enjoyed reading this post Amanda as someone who followed an organic path of life and contemplative spirituality. I resisted following mechanical instruction in meditation. To me it is just allowing your most natural aware state to resurface when we get entagled by our thoughts, feeling and emotions. It is necessary to practice our natural belly breath on daily basis as life is so speedy and stressful sometimes we get out of touch with our natural rythym of breath.Susmitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06086106024522573115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8475472223815823839.post-58728571448927616932011-12-05T07:55:36.418-08:002011-12-05T07:55:36.418-08:00The more meditation the better! The more meditation the better!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8475472223815823839.post-13684425601055490582011-07-20T00:23:14.031-07:002011-07-20T00:23:14.031-07:00Being in my early 30s you might consider me a youn...Being in my early 30s you might consider me a younger consumer. I sleep so much better at weekends after a day of fresh air and physical work.
My next love is knitting, though I have so many clothes (mostly gifted by my mother who knows I dislike shopping, and many more than a decade old) that I usually use 'wool' remnants and make children's clothes to give away. When I lived in Queensland, Australia, I didn't need any knitted clothes and missed it so much! This winter I will start spinning wool again, something I haven't done since I moved to Australia in 1988 (returning to NZ in 2006), and I look forward to the creativity and truly natural fibre.
My third love has been renovating houses (especially creating the gardens).
The theme here is creating beauty and utility - so satisfying!Carolynnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8475472223815823839.post-53718844886433084142011-03-01T10:14:55.490-08:002011-03-01T10:14:55.490-08:00My own favourite film about the wild is the Canadi...My own favourite film about the wild is the Canadian adaptation of Jean Giono's beautiful book, 'The Man Who Planted Trees'.Jim McDonaldnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8475472223815823839.post-52654168957355108722011-02-21T15:18:12.457-08:002011-02-21T15:18:12.457-08:00Joanna, how nice of you to comment and I am deligh...Joanna, how nice of you to comment and I am delighted you feel the same - that's two of us at least :)

We too still eat all our meals made from scratch, my husband is Italian, so you can imagine!
